In this 2-day session, you will develop a love for developer tools, using them to automate your workflow, WITHOUT becoming a full-blown programmer or scripter (who has the time?). This course empowers you to use the Apple Developer Tools to solve your problems, whether you are a media developer, or a system administrator, or anything else you use OS X for. You will learn basic, but powerful automation and scripting techniques that will launch you into the wonderful world of automation, allowing you to spend more time doing more important things in life. We will focus on Property Lists, the Defaults Preferences system, and launchd, the underpinnings to automation. We will then move into Automator and AppleScript. At the end of day 1, we will select amongst the class some important real-world workflow problems, and then focus on day 2 with solving those problems. You WILL be able to leave this session with the techniques you need to get started automating.
